Misfits

How is Misfits aimed towards teens?

Series 1, ep 2

The general aspects of Misfits are that it is the story of 5 juvinile teens, straight away atempting to draw in the target audience. There are also the typical teenage issuse; sex/lusting after the opposite sex, drinking/ drugs, along with the added aspect of the community service. It can be assumed to be a teen drama and sci-fi fantasy due to the 'powers'.
Another thing that appeals to the teenage audience is that the show uses language that is stereotypical of what teens would say and also how they would say (For example, the sexual conversations and the swearing, as well as the 'slang').
As the teenage audience is known to be the digital natives Misfits also uses that to it's advantage as it uses one of the characters (Simon) to express the use of technology as he is always taking pictures and recording what everyone does.
The title sequence is fast paced with quick cuts and is backed by what could be considered a rock soundtrack. This is done to target the teenage audience as that is the kind of music that is apparently associated with them.
Due to the fact all of the characters in Misfits seem to all be from different places around the UK (and Ireland) then this sets up a wide character range, opening up the audience range in order to get more viewings from around the UK.
