Analyse how this extract is used to represent GENDERWho are the high/low status characters and how are they portrayed in this extract? Is the stereotype PERPETRATED or CONTRADICTED?

The female is shown at the beginning to be helpless as it starts with an over the shoulder shot of the Master looking powerful as she is shown out of focus and being escorted signifying her lack of power. As she walks towards the Master all focus is on her. We see this as while walking the clip is edited so that there is match on action with where she looks. When she looks a certain direction we see what she is looking at and everyone she looks at is looking back at her. When she looks towards the master he is shown from a high angle, showing he is in a higher position of power to her.
Once she has kneeled, she is shot in a high angle to show her powerlessness, this contrasts with the masters low angle shots showing his dominance over her. This is portraying a stereotypical view of men and women as it shows the male has the power. To show not only his power but his evilness, there is a pinkish/reddish light lighting up the side of his face as well.
When the master addresses the Doctor the shot of the doctor is and extreme high angle shot, showing who the dominant male is at that point.
When the female reveals the truth about what she has been doing the camera angle moves down to more eye level, showing her regaining of some power, breaking the masters control on her slightly. In the flash back, panning is used so you can see the amount of people she is addressing and it also shows, because there are a lot of people that she is of high status at that point.
At this point editing is used to draw out time but cutting to the clock in order to show time is significant but not passing by normally.
Once the countdown has finished, editing speeds up in order to create an increase in pace. This happens due to the fact the doctor starts to grow and glow. This signifies the regaining of power as the camera moves from high angle to eye level, moving the doctor’s status. Following this is an over the shoulder shot of the masters back and the doctor rising into the air. This is like the first shot but with reversed roles, as the doctor is the one with power now while the master is losing it.
When the master tries to shoot the doctor it is shot with a slightly high angle showing it is hopeless as the doctor is of higher status than him. Just before it finishes, the positions have completely changed as the master is going down stairs lowing him completely while the doctor has taken over where he was just standing, showing the doctor has taken his power.
This whole struggle is showing while there is still a battle of power, the power is being fought over by the males while the female did help, ultimately the doctor, a male, was the 'genius' behind it all. This could even show the female is as the doctor’s disposal to use to do what he needs to be done, lowering her status even more. This clip can definitely show stereotypical gender roles.
